New World pigs that are related to the African warthog, collared peccaries have scat that is typically large and nearly pellet-shaped, segments, similar to the pellets of deer, but much larger (2 to 3 inches long). When the peccary has been feeding on especially rich or succulent plants, scat may be more flattened or disc-shaped, much like a cow patty. Scat may contain small bones of rodents or birds and insect remains (legs, carapace).
