While 4leggers has grown into a site that offers fact sheets, helpful tips, and feature stories about all four-legged mammals from household cats to mountain lions, bears, elephants and even mice, the foundation of 4leggers is our love of dogs.

To help educate the public about how important canines are to our everyday life, even though we often don’t know it, 4leggers has launched a series of stories about some of the most courageous dogs in the world: CIA K9 officers.

Check out of pages of active CIA K9 officers and those dogs who have been enshrined in the CIA K9 Hall of Fame.

If you know of any courageous dogs – whether working dogs or just a neighbor’s dog who saved a life or did something courageous – please contact us and we’ll follow up about doing a story: change [at] sherpamultimedia [dot] com.

CIA K9 Officer

NAME: Rammo

BREED: Labrador retriever

SPECIALTY: explosive detection

BIRTHPLACE: undisclosed

Hi, my name is Rammo. (But, everyone wants to call me Rambo!) I am a yellow Lab, and I was born on Sept. 12, 2006. I was brought up in a program called “Puppies Behind Bars.” I learned many things from them, like how to sit and stay. I then went to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). I found my calling: to be with the Explosive Detection Team.

I met my partner, K-9 Officer Patrick. We started our work together in a 10-week training program in October 2007. I started working at the CIA on Dec. 20, 2007. I find my job very rewarding, knowing that I help keep CIA employees safe. It’s great going to work every day.

At home, I love to play with my older brother, Toby, who is a 20-pound West Highland Terrier. We like to chase each other around the house and drive our parents crazy! My mommy loves to spoil me, kiss my nose, and play with my ears. I love to sleep and eat grass; I also love to play with Officer Patrick.

See more pictures of Rammo in his photo gallery.
