While 4leggers has grown into a site that offers fact sheets, helpful tips, and feature stories about all four-legged mammals from household cats to mountain lions, bears, elephants and even mice, the foundation of 4leggers is our love of dogs.

To help educate the public about how important canines are to our everyday life, even though we often don’t know it, 4leggers has launched a series of stories about some of the most courageous dogs in the world: CIA K9 officers.

Check out of pages of active CIA K9 officers and those dogs who have been enshrined in the CIA K9 Hall of Fame.

If you know of any courageous dogs – whether working dogs or just a neighbor’s dog who saved a life or did something courageous – please contact us and we’ll follow up about doing a story: change [at] sherpamultimedia [dot] com.

CIA K9 Officer

NAME: Harris

BREED: Labrador retriever

SPECIALTY: explosive detection

BIRTHPLACE: undisclosed

Hi, my name is Harris. I am a 60-pound black Lab. I came from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. And I went to their Explosive Detection School.

After a long day at work, I like to lounge around the house. Once I’m all rested up, I like to go outside and play. I love to chase tennis balls, and if I can’t find one, I’ll just chase my tail! I also love to play with teddy bears. If I see my partner, K-9 Officer Rick, watering the yard, I make sure I find the biggest puddle to jump in. I love to get wet and muddy. At night, once playtime is over, I will sleep by Officer Rick’s bed.

It’s great having such a close bond with my partner. Officer Rick and I always look out for each other. People might think that Officer Rick is only my partner at work, but he really is my best friend.
